The Lycksele area can offer rich natural resources, exciting forests, swarming wetlands and living waters, among them the beautiful, unexploited Vindel River.

After a political battle in the 1970s the Vindel River was protected from hydro-power exploitation, and it is now "a national river" and an important resource for nature conservancy, outdoor life, tourism and local development.
